After tons of rumors, Instagram leaks, and hypebeast speculation, Nike's collaboration with Off-White's Virgil Abloh — dubbed "The Ten" — was officially confirmed this morning, with drop dates and all.
Abloh's reconstructed, reimagined sneaker capsule will consist of 10 iconic Nike shoes, divided into two themes: "Revealing" and "Ghosting". Shoes in the “Revealing” category will come first, including new versions of the Air Jordan I, Nike Blazer, Nike Air Presto, Nike Air Max 90 and Nike Air VaporMax, all designed to look raw, deconstructed, distressed.
The second theme, "Ghosting," will include the Converse Chuck Taylor, Nike Zoom Fly SP, Nike Air Force 1 Low, Nike React Hyperdunk 2017 and Nike Air Max 97, and will all feature translucent uppers for a more futuristic vibe.
While each style will vary slightly in terms of overall design and aesthetic, a red zip tie through the laces of each pair will be a constant throughout the capsule. You'll even find some of Abloh's cheeky logos in the designs, with "FOAM" superimposed on the sides of the React Hyperdunk and Zoom Vaporfly shoes, and "shoelaces" written across some of the laces.
"What we're talking about here is larger than sneakers, it's larger than design culture," says Abloh in a press release. "It's nothing short of state-of-the-art design. These 10 shoes have broken barriers in performance and style. To me, they are on the same level as a sculpture of David or the Mona Lisa. You can debate it all you want, but they mean something. And that's what's important."
The first five sneakers of the capsule — the Air Jordan I, Nike Blazer, Nike Air Presto, Nike Air Max 90 and Nike Air VaporMax — will be pre-released at NikeLab stores in New York City (September 9–13), London (September 18–22), Milan (September 21–25) and Paris (September 26–30).
Not in those cities? You'll have to wait until November, when the full collection will launch at NikeLab stores and select retailers worldwide. As of right now, the brand has no plans to sell them online, but you can probably find them on the re-sale market after the New York release on September 9th. Check out the full range below, and keep checking back for more updates — like you know, prices — as the drop gets closer.
